The German family enterprise Bahlsen is an international sweet biscuit manufacturer. In Germany Bahlsen is the most successful manufacturer in this market and with the brands BAHLSEN and LEIBNIZ market leader. Also throughout Europe, Bahlsen is one of the most successful sweet biscuit companies. The company’s roots go back to 1889, when Hermann Bahlsen founded the “Hannoversche Cakes-Fabrik H. Bahlsen” and employed ten people. Today, more than 130 years later, the company has an international presence with its biscuits, waffles, chocolate bars and cake, employing 2,750 people, with a turnover of 540 million euros in 2019.
The aim of this project is to give the Bahlsen Group a general picture of 15 potential external partners in Europe for each of the lanes: ‘packaging’, ‘raw materials’ and ‘co-packers’. In this project you will work with two other students and each student does research on one lane. The partners must meet the following criteria: ‘they must be innovative’ and ‘they have an ability to scale up’. In the first phase of the project you will set up a grading system to identify the potential of third parties to work together with the Bahlsen Group. Afterwards you will search for potential third parties and give them grades according to this grading system.
By identifying and benchmarking these potential partners, Bahlsen Group will have a set-up to approach these companies. This will help Bahlsen Group in their mission to find people or partners for a bright future of food.
